Breakfast or Great Hair?
Tough choice, right? But I know you're probably thinking why would you have to sacrifice one for the other... I'd like to share a natural hair recipe with you all and the secret, yet powerful, ingredient is EGG. Yup, the incredible, edible egg. Not the whole egg, but just the yolk. So all you health conscious people can use the egg yolk in this recipe and eat the egg white (win/win, right?). Egg yolks are a great source of cholesterol which isn't best for the body but does miracles for the hair. Egg yolks work great to stop breakage and help grow hair on a bald spot. In addition, they soften and add shine to the hair as it strengthens. I'm all over the organic hair product movement now, so I want to share a recipe with you. This is probably one of the easiest recipe's you'll ever have to do. While there are many variations, this is what works best for me.
Jojo's Egg Yolk Conditioner
1 egg yolk
1.5 tablespoons of olive oil
1/2 cup of cool to cold water (depending on how cold you can stand it)
Mix all of the ingredient thoroughly and add to freshly washed hair. Let sit for about 30 minutes. WARNING: Do not add heat (blow dryer, heating cap, or hot water), because it will cook the egg. Wash out and condition with your preferred conditioner. This should only be used once a week, because too much of a good thing can be bad.
Once again, this is a great recipe for my natural sisters concerned about breakage. You can add 2-3 drops of your favorite EO's for a great scent. Keep in mind, everyone's hair is different. My hair is different from your hair is different from their hair. While this works like a charm for me, it may not do you the same justice. It's worth the try tho!
Let me know how it works for you!!!!
