Growing up I was always opposed to the idea of shopping at a thrift store. I thought it was for poor or dirty people who didn't have enough money to shop at "cool stores" like I did. Towards the end of high school, though, I slowly started to discover how COOL thrift stores actually are. Since then I have been a regular shopper. I even shop more now since my favorite fashion bloggers and most stylish friends get some of their hottest gear from there. I try to go maybe once a week or so. "Thrifting Mondays" is an "event" checking out local thrift stores and finding HUGE weekly bargains...Mondays because I assume that's when they stock their floors. The Salvation Army is one of my favs, because it's like the Saks Fifth Ave of second hand stores. I also go to local spots at home or on campus. It's a big deal to know that no one will have one what I'm wearing or probably have not seen one like it, and of course most everybody will like it! lol :). Most people are still opposed to the idea of used clothing, but me being the "Queen of Cheap" knows that that's nothing the permanent press cycle or the dry cleaners cannot take care of...then it's as good a brand new!
About my pic:I purchased this 100% linen blazer from yesterday from a shop down here in Champaign. I paired it with a short black dress and some cream pumps (sorry for lack of picture w/ the shoes). I prefer the outfit with the beaded necklace rather than the silver dookey rope. I'll prob wear it to an event this weekend...I can't wait though =)
