I'm Not Hating...Just Want Talk About it

Happy Columbus Day that-doesn't-matter-after-high-school-because-we-never-get-it-off Day!!! Like Wyclef Jean (who is now a professor at Brown University) said: let's stop lying to the children. Christopher Columbus did NOT "discover" anything. He did accidently land in the Carribean and opened that western part of the world to Europe. If we want to talk REAL history makers let's talk about Leif Ericson and the Norse whom landed in North America way before Mister Columbus did. Can we get a holiday for them? lol
Which brings up a question: is history real? Is what they teach us in the textbooks really accurate? It truly gets under my skin when non-Liberians try to tell me that Liberia's population was solely based upon freed slaves, because this is what they have been taught. Coming of Liberia and knowledgable about the history, it frustrates me.  But not to make this all about me, it frustrates and annoys me when certain groups of people (e.g., the europeans) always paint themselves as hereos. I encourage you, which you should already be doing, to not just accept but challenge information that is given to you. You learn a lot more when you learn on your own! As for me, after witnessing these "accounts" of history, I'm only believeing " [less than] half of what I read and all of what I see." That's the definition of a wise person, right? ;)
